Breaking the Drought is made for embellishing. You can use the embellishing features on your sewing machine to create a textured quilt that can be used as a piece of art or as a lap quilt.

Breaking the Drought is especially good for quilters who are new to embellishing. Quarter or half yard pieces of fabric are embellished before being cut into the blocks for the quilt. Smaller fabric pieces are easier to handle and if you do make a mistake, you have not ruined your whole quilt. The gentle curves allow for embellishing with the feed dogs UP!

A note about finding embellishing yarns, ribbons, etc. Look in your local quilt shop. We found a product by "Hand Dyed Hobbies" that has color coordinated packages of yarns and ribbons with either 3 or 7 different yarns in each package. There is 3.25 yards of each yarn in the package. This makes it really easy to select embellishments for Breaking the Drought.
