Cross Ties Quilt Pattern - Straight to the Point Series QW-04
|
Item Number: QW-04
Designer: Ann Anderson / Susan Mayer
|
Cross Ties is the Fourth in the Straight to the Point Series. Cross Ties uses a simple rail fence block. Blocks are 6" or 7 1/2" depending on quilt size and are fast to sew.
All the blocks are set as straight rows. The quilt is then cut and resewn into an on-point setting. The are NO diagonal rows of different sizes and NO setting triangles. Our technique makes On-Point sets a snap. See our quick demonstration page.
The cross tie blocks can be made with as few as four fabrics. Choose two dark fabrics for the outside bars and two light fabrics for the inner bars of the rail fence block. You can vary the fabrics used for the two darks and lights for a scrappy look. Another option is to use many fabrics to create the shaded appearance shown on the lap size sample quilt. Two border options are included: one for an antique look and one for a contemporary look.
Our sample above is the Baby Quilt made with Poppies and Flora Bell Tonals by Fabri-Quilt.

I have just completed the quilt pattern - Contra Dance. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed making this quilt and that the instructions were clear enough even for a beginner like me. I intend to purchase more of your patterns and know that I will enjoy them just as much. Thanks for the designs that look like an expert did them but are for 'newbies' like me.
