Judabelle Quilts

Sewing has been a part of Judy Damon’s life for as long as she can remember. It encompasses everything from doll clothes as a child, to clothing and home decorating as a young woman, to a variety of sewing-related jobs over the years, including alterations, awnings, even sewing for the Defense Department! But after taking up quilting in the 80’s, other types of sewing took a back seat.

In 1999, Judy left her job in the software industry, and opened Quiltopia in Hollis, NH. “Owning a quilt shop was a fantastic way to turn my love of fabric into a new career,” she says. “Being surrounded by creative people and colorful projects is simply the best!” She began teaching quilting classes there, and continued at local shops and in her own studio after closing the retail shop seven years later.

Judabelle Quilts is the latest excursion in her sewing journey. Designing quilt patterns combines her love of color and fabric with her talents as a quilter and experience as a technical writer. She is hard at work on more patterns, as well as a book about her favorite, scrap quilts. To learn more about Judy and Judabelle Quilts, visit  www.quiltopia.com.

I have just completed the quilt pattern - Contra Dance. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed making this quilt and that the instructions were clear enough even for a beginner like me. I intend to purchase more of your patterns and know that I will enjoy them just as much.  Thanks for the designs that look like an expert did them but are for 'newbies' like me.
