Collection: GR - Gail's Quilts - Gail Ruminski

My name is Gail Ruminski. I'm 68 and live in St. Clairsville, Ohio with my husband, Dave, our cat and two Holland Lop house rabbits. I love to sew. I used to help my grandmother sew when I was very young by working the treadle while she sewed. My mother always made her three daughters' clothes, dance costumes and doll clothes. So, it's no surprise that I grew up with a passion for sewing. I have four grandchildren and enjoy making their Halloween costumes, quilts, pillow cases, clothing and much more.

I picked up quilting 17 years ago when my niece asked me to be godmother to her new son. Of course, my first thought was, "I need to make him a quilt!" Thus, my quilting career began. I've been a nurse, a computer programmer, support manager, consultant GM and now, I'm happily retired, and filling all my spare time with quilting. I enjoy making quilts, longarm quilting for others, teaching quilting and doing presentations at guild meetings.

Recently I was asked to teach a class on paper-piecing at a local quilt shop, "From Past To Present," and decided to design my own pattern. It's called, "My Playroom" and includes many of the "toys"/tools I use in my sewing room. My friends encouraged me to publish it, and so, I am now enjoying a new facet of my "quilting career" in quilt design with QuiltWoman.com.

When my granddaughter was 3, she once asked me to cut a thread out of her pocket. I did and she handed it back to me and said, "Here, GiGi - this is for your thread collection on the floor under your sewing machine." Alas, my quilting passion has never spread into one for housekeeping...

Wishing you many fun times sewing in your playroom!
