Designer Bio CC - Lorraine Stangness
Lorraine began teaching and designing quilting patterns in 1985. Since that time she has published 120 patterns and 17 books. The books Heaven's Above and Dreamscenes were published by Boyd Publishing in West Virginia, USA. After the first two books, she decided to self-publish in Canada. The books Heaven's Above Revisited, Scrap A Dazy and Magical Machine Quilting & Embellishment are still available. Her true calling in design is for pictorial (landscape) piecing. These patterns are all based on a one inch grid system. The 45 and 60 degree piecing is accomplished by the "connector corner" (snowball corners) technique. The patterns are broken into "sections" and the sections are further broken into cutting and piecing charts. There are many pieces but only straight line sewing. Great way to create a pictorial quilt without applique! Lorraine ran her shop "Country Creations" for 24 years before closing in the fall of 2013. Now she is concentrating on sharing her patterns with other quilters around the world.
